Like any city, Nashville has lots of history. The difference is, in Nashville you can still see it, touch it and feel it.
Select Pre-17th Century, to find out about early Nashville. Learn the city's names before it was renamed "Nashville." Find out about Indian settlements, fur traders, early European settlers.
As the settlers moved in during the 17th and 18th Century, the city became gentrified. You can still visit numerous restored southern plantations. We have included our favorites at this link.
The 19th Century in Nashville was one of tumoil, with the Civil War and Union occupation as a central focal point. Visit this century and scout out Civil War battlefields and climb up lookouts. We'll tell you where to find them.
The middle of the 20th Century was time for another change. This link will take you to place where some of the first Civil Rights causes took place and share some interesting irony.
