Things to Do Outdoors in Nashville

Fishing and Boating and Swimming with the Fishies

If more quiet lake pursuits are your thing, Nashville has that too. Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake alone have hundreds of miles of shoreline, perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, camping and picnicing. Both lakes have defined (roped in) swimming areas available (Mrs. Nash says there's no lifeguards last time she checked).

The Stones River, which feeds and exits below the dam at Percy Priest Lake is a great place for trout fishermen. The quiet and smaller Harpeth River, which winds through nearby Williamson Country is perfect for canoeing and fishing.

Canoe rentals are available from local vendors for Harpeth River day-trips and other regional rivers and streams.
