Nashville is the capital of the state of Tennessee and long ago, before the Civil War, the fathers of the state built this capital building on a hill where it could be seen by travelers from all directions.

Today, the building is surrounded by the ever expanding downtown area of Nashville. While it is dwarfed by several taller buildings, the classic building remains a center for Tennessee government and pride.
