Dining in Nashville
Restaurants Popular with Folks who Like International Fare
Mediterranean Cuisine - Probably not the first place you would think of, but the food is as tasty and diverse as you'll find anywhere. Located on the second level of a small strip-mall, at the Corner of Grand and 21st Avenue South, across from Vanderbilt University's Business School. Confused about the menu selections? Try the combo plate. You will not be dissatisfied. Have one of the Middle Eastern desserts to cap off your meal. Prices are very reasonable and the chef, who owns the establishment, is as nice a man as they come (Mrs. Nash says, "you 'ought appreciate that").

The Red Pepper - Located in East Nashville, past the Coliseum and back off Gallatin Road a mile or two, The Red Pepper is still an undiscovered jewel for much of Nashville's residents. Featuring a large outdoor deck and comfortable indoor seating and bar, this eatery sent Mrs. Nash home wondering how she managed to eat so much, when all she ordered was a burrito and margaurita. She tells us, the well accomplished jazz combo, playing the Saturday night she snuck in, probably got her distracted.

The Gerst House - If you visit the Wild Horse Saloon, you might notice everyone on the dance floor seems to know what they are doing, but if you're like Mrs. Nash, you might prefer something a little less refined. Why not try the Chicken Dance down at the Gerst House? Everyone here who's young in age or heart, or just had enough to drink tries and you're almost guaranteed to have a great time. Located next to I-24 at the foot of the Main Street Bridge behind the Coliseum, this German and American food establishment has something for everyone. The German food is great and the crowd pleasing umpa band is even better. Try the house beer, you won't be disappointed.

Mexican Food - What review would be complete without a listing for authentic Mexican food? Fortunately for Nashville, there are literally dozens to choose from. Mrs. Nash's taste isn't so refined that she can really tell the what's the best, but she knows when she's the only one speaking English in the place, it must be pretty good. A wide selection to choose from can be found on Nolensville Road, south of Nashville. From downtown, go south on 4th Avenue South, about five miles - between I-440 and Old Hickory Boulevard.
