Shopping in Nashville

Where to find all the glittery stage clothes

They are a little harder to find, but the country music stars have to buy their glittery stage-clothes somewhere.

Now the most extravegant buyers never buy off the rack - they get designers like "Manuel" External Link to create custom rhinestone encrusted clothes for them (Mrs. Nash says, "that's why CDs costs so dang much.").

But you can find some pretty good consignment and knock-off stuff at various shops around town. Some of these places are a little bit off the beaten path of your average Nashville visitor, but still easy to find.

Mrs. Nash says, "With rare the exception of one or two, these shops are in neighborhoods where the wannabes live and hang-out. These folks like to dress the part and look good, even if they do sound like $%#!."

With that said, Mrs. Nash is pleased to bring you this short list of shops that cater to the well-heeled - "If these don't have enough glitter, there's always the craft store" :

  • Katy K Designs at Ranch Dressings - 12th Avenue South (sign out front is an eight-foot tall cut-out cowgirl who's boobs wiggle)
  • Pieces Vintage Clothing - Louise Avenue
  • Silvery Moon - Louise Avenue
  • Smack Vintage to Vinyle Clothes - Elliston Place (who can resist vinyl???)
  • Venus and Mars - Bransford Avenue (don't miss the flying-saucer in the front yard)
  • Various other shops - Opryland Hotel, Opry Mills, Green Hills Mall, etc.
