Your Weekend in Nashville - Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Nashville Friday afternoon. Most of the larger local and national chain hotels have shuttles that will take you from the airport to your hotel. Get details before you arrive. A cab ride, will run you about twenty-dollars (price here was established prior to increasing gas prices - your fee may vary).
After unpacking, put on your walking shoes and head down to lower Broadway between 1st Avenue North and 8th Avenue North. This district was renovated in the late 1980's/early 1990's and is now a vibrant part of the city full of shops, restaurants and honky tonks and bars that cater to the visitor.
You might like checking out our suggested walking tour which takes about two hours, covers a large portion of the downtown area and gives you a good idea of where things are.
Have dinner in the lower Broadway area at one of the many sit down restaurants (Mrs. Nash likes Big River – the food is big, like her ego). There's something for every price range. Then check out the various honky tonks along lower Broadway. Here you'll find cover bands playing country tunes like they were their own.
A little later, if you're up to more fun, head up to Printers Alley for some late night action. Printers Alley is Nashville's scaled down equivalent to the party district in New Orleans (don't worry, it never floods here!). If you've rented a car or want to hire a cab, head out to the Bluebird Café (where Garth Brooks, among others, was discovered), for their 9PM show, featuring Nashville writers, performers, and wannabes. Reservations recommended.
