Your Weekend in Nashville - Itinerary
Day 2
This is your big day. In the morning, get yourself something to eat and get catch a bus tour. You should probably be able to find one that suits your taste.
Tours go through Music Row (Music Row is easily accessible by foot - though this round trip is several miles) where Mrs. Nash says "the Man" works, and past the Parthanon and Bicentennial Mall (the latter two are better for auto and bus tours).
If tacky is your thing, Mrs. Nash has some girl friends who run Nash Trash Tours (External Link). Talk about fun!
After lunch, get yourself over to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum just south of lower Broadway for a historical overview of America's music since the beginning of the twentieth century. Plan to spend at least two hours here.
If you've still got afternoon energy, you can tour the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in the Gaylord Entertainment Center (the GEC), where the National Hockey League's Nashville Predators make their home and where countless international top-talent performers do their thing.
Catch an early dinner or get a snack because your next stop is the Grand Ole Opry (reserve your tickets ahead of time). This may be the best live show going in Nashville for the money, since you get so much in just a couple hours. Here's an external link with a sample of some Opry shows from the Opry web site External Link.
In the winter months, the Opry is often held in its historic home in downtown Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium, otherwise known as the mother church of country music.
If it's Summer, the show is probably being held at the Gaylord Resort, about five miles north of the Nashville airport, or about six miles up the Cumberland River. Contact the Opry for locations, show times, ticket information. For transportation, ask your hotel about shuttles.
After the Opry, head back downtown to the Wildhorse Saloon for some bootscoot'n or hang outside the Opryhouse for even more musical entertainment. Shows , often held outside the Opryhouse, give you the opportunity to dance and just have a plain good ole time.
